Radiation Level in Tokyo:

Graph of environmental radiation levels in Tokyo

Actual status of radiation level in Tokyo:

The radiation level figure indicated above is announced by the Government.
Tokyo's observation point is in Shinjuku-ku(Ward). And its hight is 18 m above from
the ground level.
According to civil surveys for radiation level, Adachi-ku, Koto-ku, Katsushika-ku and
Sumida-ku areas have higher radiation levels, 3-4 times higher than the Shinjuku-ku.
These areas are located at eastern part of Tokyo.

The most higest figure was 0.618 microSv/h which was observed at the entrance of the
Mizumoto Part in Katsushika-ku. It is 10 times higher than that of Shinjuku-ku.

Situation of the Fukushima Nuclear Accidents:

Don't trust the announcements made by the Japanese Government and TEPCO,
Tokyo Electric Power Company.
As they do not provide the accurate/honest information for the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Japanese people assess their government as liar.
Thus, you will access the situation information provided by the US Government
and/or French Government.
Even, the information provided by the IAEA is not accurate as its infomation is
based on the information responded/prepared by the Japanese Government.

Rradiation Free Life in Tokyo: How to spend safely in Tokyo.

1. Do not visit Fukushima Prefecture. Even in Fukushima City located at 60 km away from the Fukushima
Daiichi Nuclear Reactors, it has higher radiation level. US Government does not allow to enter the area
which is 80 km away from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.
In Tokyo, there are many hotspots. Adachi-ku Ward, Edogawa-ku Ward and Katsushika-ku Ward
show higher radiation level than other area. Do not visit these districts.

2. Do not take vegetable and milk produced in the southern part of the Tohoku & all areas of the Kanto region.
Kanto region contains Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Ibaraki, Gunma, Tochigi, Saitama Prefectures.
Products show the harvested prefecture on its label. Choose vegetable and milk produced
in the western regions(prefectures) of Japan or Hokkaido.
The National Supermarket in Hiroo sell with English labels showing the harvested prefecture.
As for rice, do not take rice produced in Tohoku and Kanto area. No problem for rice produced
in southern prefectures and imported rice.
Do not eat meat produced in Japan. The meat of cows was shipped from farms in Fukushima
prefecture and other prefectures having radiation contamination. As of 23rd July 2011,
the number of cows is 2600 or more.
The radioactive beef has been distributed to 46 prefectures, including Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi,
Osaka and Kochi, and some was consumed at restaurants and homes. The radioactive beef was
also sold at major department stores and supermarket.

3. Do not drink Japanese green tea produced in the southern part of the Tohoku & Kanto region.
Out of the Tohoku and Kanto region, Shizuoka Prefecture produces the radiation contaminated green tea.

4. Do not eat mushrooms produced in the southern part of the Tohoku & Kanto region.

5. Do not eat fish/marine products captured on/off the coast of Tohoku and Kanto region.
No problem for fish from Hokkaido, south Japan and the Sea of Japan.
Of course, no problem for imported fish.

6. Do not eat Japanese processed foods, as there is a possibility of using the radiation
contaminated ingredients. Japanese systems of foods inspection for radiation are not
working effectively. Use the imported processed foods.

7. No problem for drinking water. Tap water is examined by the water supply authority.
If you have baby, use the bottled/imported water to assure the safety.

8. Do not visit restaurants in Japan, as there is a possibility of eating the radiation
contaminated foods. It is due to the poor inspection system of radiation for foods.
Japanese Government does not ban the shipping of foods from Fukushima prefecture,
highly radiation contaminated area and other prefectures with hotspots.
Beef produced in Fukushima prefecture and other prefectures which were
contaminated with radiation was distributed in Japan and was consumed at many
restaurants and homes. It also means that the radiation contaminated foods are used in the
production of the processed foods in Japan. Japanese do not have the effective food inspection
systems against the nuclear disaster.

9. Do not go out on days when the radiation from Fukushima Daiiachi Power Plant
covers Tokyo area. / the forecast for the radiation/ the Germany Weather Forecast(DWD)

10. Use umbrella on rain days.

11. Do not open the windows.

12. Do not go to parks in Tokyo which have higher radiation.
Gardening is not suggested in Tokyo.

13. Do not touch mud, grass, tree on the ground and at parks.
As mud, grass, tree, moss and plant keep the radiation. It is the same for mud, grass and plant
around your house. Gutter of your house has higher radiation.Garden works are risky tasks.

Do not play on the lawn and in the sand pit in the parks and garden of your house.

14. Do not use outside pools.

15. Do not go to forest in Tokyo.

16. Do not go to sea for sea bathing in Kanto and southern part of Tohoku region.

17. Do not go to rivers for fishing. River fishes are contaminated with radiation.

18. Do not approache the drainage trench which has higher radiation.

(in case of emergency)
19. Leave Tokyo within 5 hours after the explosion of the Fukushima Daiich Nuclear Reactors.

Labels on foods:
Japanese Labels indicating the radiation polluted prefectures:
You should not buy the agricultural and stock raising products with
the following labels.

Shizuoka Prefecture should be included as radiation contaminated area:

In Shizuoka Prefecture, green tea has a higher radiation and it is stopped for
shipping and selling. You should not eat foods from Shizuoka Prefecture.
Shizuoka Prefecture has a distance of over 400 km from the Fukushima Nuclear
Plant. At the airport in France, the radiation contaminated green tea from
Shizuoka Prefecture was found. It shows that the examination of foods in Japan
is not sufficient.

Japan adopts the higher permissible level of radiation for foods:

In comparison to the international standards, Japan adopts the higher permissible level of radiation for
foods/drinks. Foods and drinks available in Japan will not be allowed in another countries for human use.

For example:
Vegetable: for Cesium
Japan: 500 becquerels/kg
USA: 170 becquerels/kg
Ukraine: 40 becquerels/kg

Tap water:
Japan: 200 becquerels/litter
USA: 0.111 becquerels/litter
WHO: 1 becquerel/litter

After April of 2012, permissible level of radiation for foods will
be changed.
Vegetable: for Cesium: 100 becquerels/kg
Tap water: for Cesium: 10 becquerels/litter
